Here are the top three stories in Birmingham today:
- The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute celebrates 30 years of preserving the movement’s legacy. The institute educated the community on the city’s role in the central civil rights movement. The institute also conducts research while collaborating with the Smithsonian Institution. Over the next 30 years, the Institute plans to strengthen partnerships with communities. (Birmingham Watch)
- Various organizations in Jefferson County have been distributing food in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. Hundreds of county families received food boxes at various events over the weekend. The grocery boxes are important at a time of record inflation. Donation details can be found here. - A Jefferson County resident has been arrested for sexually assaulting several women at local retail stores. Michael Wayne Green, 36, “shoved” his privates towards women while brushing them. Police investigators are assuming there are more victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bessemer police department. (AL.com)
