Alabama basketball stays steady in AP, coach poll falls

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Alabama basketball stayed 18th on the most recent AP Top 25 after a 4-0 start to the season. However, the Crimson Tide fell two places from 16th to 18th in USA Today’s Coaches Poll.

Emerging from a 104-62 win over Jacksonville State, the Crimson Tide will spend earlier in the week on the practice ground preparing for this week’s Phil Knight Invitational. Alabama will open the tournament against Michigan State at No. 12.

Around the rest of the Southeastern Conference in the AP Top 26, Arkansas is the highest-ranked team at No. 9, followed by Auburn at No. 13. Kentucky fell 11 places at No. 15 after their 88-72 loss to No. 6 Gonzaga.
