Colder weather sets in for central Alabama this weekend

Cold air in place through the weekend. Overnight lows in the 20s across central Alabama. Check the video prediction for the latest. COLD SUNDAY MONING The first widespread frost in some time will push temperatures into the mid and high 20s on Sunday morning. Aside from some high altitude cirrus clouds, skies will be mostly clear. This, coupled with light winds, favors the formation of frost early on Sunday morning. We’ll be greeted with more sunshine towards the end of the weekend, although those high clouds could occasionally make an appearance. On Sunday it will be warmer with highs in the 50s. SEVEN DAY FORECAST A quick warm up will again trigger some rain showers late Monday evening into Tuesday. This will be the start of another active stretch of wet and blustery weather in central Alabama. The showers heading into Monday night and Tuesday are looking relatively light. With this first system, there will be no storms. Another system, a stronger system, will bring heavier rainfall and some thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. This second system could bring the threat of severe weather to the southeast. Just not what we need right now! The amounts of precipitation will also be higher with this system than with the first. And as if that wasn’t enough, another storm system is bringing widespread rain probabilities back into next weekend’s forecast. Flood concerns may arise if models continue to get wet over the next seven days.
