WE WERE DRY ALL DAY AND NOW HAVE A VIEW OVER BIRMINGHAM COURTESY OF THE CAMERA OF OUR ALABAMA KIDS CHECKING IN AT 66 DEGREES. SO MILD OUTSIDE TILL THE EVENINGS AND WE ARE NOW DRY ON THE WVTM 13 LIVE DOPPLER. BUT THIS WILL CHANGE SOON. IN THE NEXT 6 HOURS WE WILL SEE A LARGE AREA OF RAIN RETURNING TO OUR WEST, AND PROGRESSING STEADILY EAST. THIS WILL MAKE A WET THURSDAY NIGHT ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA. YOU WILL LIKELY HEAR THIS RAIN ON THE ROOF OVERNIGHT TODAY AND FOR THE FIRST PART OF OUR FRIDAY MORNING. BUT IT WILL NOT RAIN ALL DAY FRIDAY. SO SOME GOOD NEWS THERE. I think we will see some clear weather, some dry weather. WE HAVE BEEN FOR TOMORROW AFTERNOON. LET’S GO AHEAD AND PLAY THINGS HERE ON ONE OF OUR FORECAST MODEL ANIMATIONS IN THE NEXT DAYS. IN FACT, TWO SYSTEMS WILL BE TRACKING THE WEEKEND. SO HERE WE GO WITH THE FIRST TO COME TODAY, THE HEAVEST, THE RAIN WILL STAY DOWN TO OUR SOUTH. IT IS STILL A CONTINUOUS RAIN THROUGH MOST OF THE NIGHT. YOU CAN SEE, ESPECIALLY IN THE AREAS ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-20, THAT THE RAINFALL WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY. Most spots will absorb at least a half inch of rain. RAIN IN SOME AREAS BY THE TIME WE REACH 5AM TOMORROW MORNING, MOST OF THE HEAVY RAIN HAS FLOODED TO OUR SOUTH AND EAST, MAYBE A FEW SHOWERS BY TOMORROW MORNING. TOMORROW AFTERNOON LOOKS DRYER. IT WILL BE ANOTHER WARM DAY TOMORROW, WITH TEMPERATURES RISING BACK INTO THE 60’S. IT LIKES SATURDAY BEGINNING DRY. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LATE IN THE DAY. HERE COMES SYSTEM NUMBER TWO. OF COURSE WE HAVE THE IRON BOWL ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. I think the game will be fine for the most part. I CANNOT RULE OUT A SINGLE SHOWER OR TWO DURING THE GAME, BUT THE BIGGEST RAIN, HEAVY RAIN IS CONSTANTLY, IS THE RAIN AND THE POSSIBLE FOR SOME THUNDERSTORMS WILL NOT COME UP until LATE IN THE EVENING. AND OVERNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT TO SUNDAY EARLY MORNING 10 PM. THEY WILL DEPORT EAST QUICKLY. AND THEN, AS WE PASS THIS SYSTEM, WE WILL SEE SOME COLDER AIR AND DRYER AIR MOVE IN FOR SUNDAY AND THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK. Speaking of Irondale, here’s a look at the forecast. I think it will be windy for most of the day on Saturday. WE WILL STEAM OUT THERE TOO. 66 DEGREES STARTING AGAIN. DURING THE GAME WE LET A SINGLE SHOWER OR TWO BE PERFORMED BUT MAIN RAIN NOW LOOKS LIKE IT WILL OCCUR AFTER THE GAME. ANOTHER FEW DAYS OF OPERATION FOR THE RAIN COMING TONIGHT THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING, NEXT ROUND COMING LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING, SUNDAY AFTERNOON. IT LOOKS BETTER. Rain moves in tonight with active weather through the weekend

It will be wet overnight in central Alabama for the first half of Friday. More rain coming this weekend. HERE COMES THE RAIN We managed to stay dry for much of Thanksgiving day, although it was overcast. However, the rain will spread across the area after 9pm tonight and continue into Friday. The most consistent and heaviest rain will end Friday morning, but showers could continue into early afternoon. The highest rainfall levels will occur just to our south, with amounts ranging from a quarter of an inch to 1 inch. Storms are not expected. THE IRON BOWL forecast models are trending slower with Saturday’s storm system which would mean a drier Iron Bowl forecast. It will be cloudy, breezy and warm at kick-off, with temperatures in the upper 60’s and perhaps a flirty 70’s. It’s still possible we’ll see a few passing showers during the game, but it doesn’t look like a drench by any means. Most showers and storms will continue into Saturday night after games close. STORMS SATURDAY NIGHT There is a slight risk of some severe storms down along the Gulf Coast Saturday night. If the models are trending north with some of the higher instability values, it’s possible that some stronger storms are impacting central Alabama, which is something to keep in mind. SEVEN-DAY FORECAST Drier weather is set in the state for Sunday through early next week, with mild afternoons in the 60’s and cool mornings in the 40’s. Forecast models point to a strong storm system approaching central Alabama by the middle of next week.
