Blue Raiders defeat loggers in Quebec

LAVAL, Quebec — Middle Tennessee men’s basketball won back-to-back Saturday with a 75-63 victory over Stephen F. Austin in the Northern Classic at Bell Place. Three Blue Raiders scored double digits in the win.

Middle Tennessee defied intense SFA defensive pressure and put some distance between them and the Lumberjacks with a 15-2 first-half run. Jestin Porter scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half as MTSU was 16-to-20 from the free throw line in the second half to freeze the game.

DeAndre Dishman added 17 points and six rebounds leading the team. Eli Lawrence added 12 points and five rebounds to the winner.

Through the numbers

.583: Dishman, Lawrence and Porter combined for a .583 (14-24) shot from the floor on Saturday.

3: Elijah King set a career-high in blocks in the second straight game and sent back three SFA attempts.

8th: MTSU’s eight blocks was the second-most in a game this season, ranking 14thth-most in program history.

Blue Raider Notes

  • MTSU is now 8-2 in games at neutral sites since the start of the 2021-22 season, having been 1-15 for the previous four seasons.
  • The Blue Raiders won back-to-back games for the first time in 2022-23.
  • Teafale Lenard, Jr.’s three blocks was a season-high and earned him 16th placeth Multi-block game of his career.
