We will have a wide range of temperatures tonight as lows will range from the low 20’s to the low 40’s with the coldest temperatures in the Helena area and northeastern Montana. We will also continue to have gusty winds in locations east of the Rocky Mountain Front tonight as sustained winds will range between 10 and 25 mph and gusts of up to 40 mph will be possible at times. It will remain windy along the Rocky Mountain Front tonight as sustained winds will range between 20 and 40 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph will be possible at times. We will also have partly cloudy skies and dry conditions tonight.
Tomorrow will be very windy along the Rocky Mountain Front as sustained winds will range between 25 and 45 mph with intermittent gusts of over 60 mph possible. East of the Rocky Mountain Front we will have gusty to intermittent strong winds tomorrow as sustained winds will range between 10 and 30 mph and gusts in excess of 40 mph will be possible at times. Only a light breeze will blow in the valleys tomorrow. Also, this wind will come from the southwest in most places.
Tomorrow will also be the warmest day in weeks as highs will be in the 40’s and 50’s. We will also have partly to mostly cloudy skies tomorrow with some late afternoon and evening rain and snow showers, mainly along and west of the continental divide.
On Friday night and Saturday morning there will be isolated rain and snow showers, especially in the mountains, as a cold front is moving through our area. This cold front will also bring colder air into our area as Saturday’s highs will fall back into the mid to high 30’s and low to mid 40’s. Winds will also be lighter on Saturday than tomorrow but it will still be windy as sustained wind speeds will be between 10 and 25mph in most locations.
On Sunday we will have widespread gusty to strong winds as sustained winds will range between 15 and 35mph and gusts in excess of 50mph will be possible at times. It will also be cool on Sunday as highs will be in the mid to high 30s and lows in the mid 40s. There will also be scattered rain and snow showers in north-central Montana on Sunday, and there will be patches of snow in the Helena area on Sunday as a cold front begins to work its way through our area. Also, this precipitation will generally occur in the second half of Sunday.
On Monday there will be isolated snow showers, especially in the mountains, when this cold front leaves our area. Monday will also be a lot colder as highs will only be in the mid to high teens and low 20s. There will also be a breeze on Monday as sustained wind speeds will be between 10 and 25mph and this wind will be from the NNW.
Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and dry conditions are then expected on Tuesday as high pressure will dominate our weather for a short time. We’ll then have a chance to see some more snow on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning when another storm system moves through our area.
It will continue to be cold for those three days as highs will be in the teens and lows will be in the mid 20’s. There will also be a light breeze on Tuesday and Thursday as sustained wind speeds will be between 10 and 15 mph and Wednesday will be windy as sustained wind speeds will be between 10 and 20 mph.
