Western Montana, THANK YOU! The 28th Annual Guerrilla Turkey Drive has come to an end and through the generosity of so many great people we have been able to raise enough turkeys for our agencies to work with to achieve their goals. With all the stories we’ve heard this year, it has truly been a year of the ‘unknowns’ for Turkey Drive. We never have any idea if we’ll be able to help the agencies that need our help.

We can’t do it without a lot of help, not only from individuals but also from companies. Missoula Electric Cooperative has been a phenomenal sponsor for much of what we do on our stations. Decker Truck Lines is helping us out by getting a truck off the road and making sure it has enough fuel to keep all the turkeys frozen until it’s time to distribute them. KPAX-TV has helped us in recent years to publicize the need.
The Missoula Electric Cooperative outperformed us
Donations started arriving on Friday evening. It was amazing to be a part of this event again and it was an emotional sight on Friday as the sun went down as the Missoula Electric Cooperative pulled up with literally hundreds of turkeys to help us ensure all field agencies met their needs met. Without their generosity we could not have achieved their goals. Not only did they help us unload the turkeys, they spent hours driving around town to make sure they got enough turkeys for the trip. Thank you, Missoula Electric Cooperative.

We raised nearly 1,000 turkeys and over $2,700 in cash and checks this year. Each turkey can feed a family of 4 or 5 with leftovers, helping thousands of people ensure they have at least one turkey for Thanksgiving. We’ve helped The Darby Bread Box, Haven House in Hamilton, Pantry Partners in Stevensville, Mineral County Food Bank, Missoula Food Bank and the Missoula Head Start. All the agencies we spoke to leading up to our Turkey Drive all saw the same thing: more demand and rising prices for food to feed their customers.
