About 1,000 participants take part in the Windham Turkey Trot
About 1,000 participants took part in the 28th Windham Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. The Turkey Trot is a fundraiser for the Shepherd’s Pantry, which has been serving families in southern New Hampshire for 30 years. Louise Peltz and her family started the turkey trot 28 years ago, and it gets her emotional to think about how much it’s grown. “It feels really good. It’s like a little legacy for our family. I’m really excited, and the people who took it on did such a good job, you know,” Peltz said. As of December 2021, the trot has raised more than $350,000 for charity. The pantry serves an average of 90 families each week and is run entirely by volunteers.
