CONCORD, NH — A Concord rapist with prior convictions for drug abuse, assault and other convictions is serving 30 years in federal prison after being found guilty of sexually exploiting a minor.
A federal judge Monday sentenced Jerry S. Roberts, Jr., 38, of Concord to 360 months in prison.
Back in July 2019, Concord Police and fire and rescue teams were dispatched to a report about a man jumping from a second-floor apartment window in the Concord Park North apartment complex on Fisherville Road.
The victim, a tenant of the building who was tied up in the apartment, fled from two people, police said. They later learned that Roberts had attacked the man with a hammer as he tried to kidnap him. A minor was with Roberts at the time.

Firefighters treated the victim while police entered the home to arrest Roberts on a report and probation violation.
About a month later, Roberts was charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, criminal threat with a deadly weapon, and criminal liability for the conduct of another, all felonies, and resisting arrest or imprisonment.
The victim of the attack told police that Roberts and a minor left items at his home. Police obtained search warrants and detectives found several electronic items – including a digital camera. Investigators also identified two videos Roberts filmed showing the minor engaging in sexual activity.
“Roberts is a repeat and dangerous child sex offender,” said US Attorney Jane Young. “The verdict in this case reflects the seriousness of the crimes committed by this defendant, which are of particular concern given his multiple prior convictions for the sexual abuse of young children. This office is committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society – our children – and bringing sex offenders like Roberts to justice.”
Roberts is also required to be released under lifelong custody if and when he is released from prison.
“The Concord Police Department remains committed to investigating crimes against children to protect such a vulnerable population,” said Lt. Marc P. McGonagle of the Criminal Investigations Division. “We are grateful for the hard work that all investigators from the Concord Police Department, Homeland Security and U.S. Attorney’s Office staff have put into this case.”
Matthew Millhollin, a special agent for New England homeland security investigations, said the Roberts are now behind bars and no longer delinquent, and his victims can begin to heal and see the future.
“Homeland Security Investigations is proud to provide support and expertise to our local partners in the Concord Police Department,” he said, “working together to ensure predators like Roberts are brought to justice.”
Roberts was convicted in October 2004 in Rockingham County of one count of sexual assault plus two minor assaults and in September 2008 in Belknap of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault on a victim under the age of 16, according to the state of New Hampshire County.
Between 2004 and 2017, Robert was convicted of breach of terms, drug possession, witness tampering, second-degree assault charges, reckless conduct, stalking, domestic violence, and both reporting and non-compliance.
