NEW YORK — Seven programs compete in nine different events in this week’s edition of Lions on the Road.

MEN’S TENNIS
Men’s tennis will take part in the ITA Kickoff weekend when they travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina for the second time this month. The No. 21 Lions meet No. 13 Harvard at 10 a.m. Saturday. Columbia then meets either Oklahoma State or North Carolina on Sunday.

SWIMMING AND DIVING FOR MEN
The Lions’ penultimate meeting of the regular season comes on Saturday when they take on Cornell at 11:00 a.m. on the road. The 5-2 men’s swim and dive team suffers a narrow defeat against a non-conference opponent in the Navy, despite losing four races by less than a second and many other good performances. Jonathan Sukow, Adam Wuand Kyle won each won two events in the competition and Seungjoon Ahn also claimed a win in the 200 fly. After Saturday’s meeting, the Lions will end the regular season with a meeting against Dartmouth on Saturday 4 February.

SWIMMING & DIVING FOR WOMEN
The Columbia women’s swim and dive finishes its regular season Saturday with a meeting against Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire, starting at 12 p.m. Last time out, the Lions took on the Princeton Tigers, but came up just short in a hard-fought contest. Columbia earned sweeps in the 100 breasts and 200 IM led by Ashley Hu and Allegra Walkerrespectively The Lions will use this meeting against Dartmouth as a last chance to prepare for the Ivy League Championships, which begin on Wednesday, February 15th.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
Women’s tennis travels across the country this weekend to attend the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Pepperdine in Malibu, California. Columbia joins Princeton as one of only two Ivy League teams participating in ITA Kickoff Weekend. The top 60 teams in women’s tennis were invited to the event based on last season’s result. The Lions meet Memphis Saturday at 1 p.m. PT. Based on the outcome of the game, Columbia will play either Pepperdine or Clemson on Sunday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Columbia continues a five-game road trip on Saturday when it travels to Hanover, New Hampshire, to face Dartmouth. The tip from the Leede Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be followed on ESPN+. Columbia enters its matchup with Big Green 6-15 (1-5) and will be looking to go on a five-game losing streak.

ARCHERY
The archery team begins its season Saturday at the Lancaster Youth & Collegiate Trophy Tournament in Mannheim, Pennsylvania. The Lions are being led by seniors this season Nidhi Kanchumarthi and Zoe Mesheland sophomore year Judith Gottlieb. Columba is starting the year fresh with a second-place finish at the 2022 USA Archery Collegiate Archery Nationals in the recurve division. Gottlieb was critical to the Lions’ success, shooting with his teammates for the recurve team Dorothy Vassantachart and MeganCollins. Senior Sachiko Keane is a returning All-American who was the 2022 Collegiate Compound Indoor National Champion for the nationally recognized Lions.

FENCING
The Lions will compete in their final vote before the Ivy League Round Robins this weekend when they make the short trip to Brooklyn for the Shark Showcase. Columbia has five doubles games scheduled, starting with Yale at 11:15 a.m. and ending against St. John’s at 4:45 p.m. Last weekend both teams went 4-1 at the St. John’s Super Cup and the women achieved a perfect 5-0 the following day at the Philly Invitational.
