NEW YORK – The Columbia men’s basketball will make two trips, first to Providence on Saturday, November 26 for a 4 p.m. competition, followed by a visit to Poughkeepsie to play Marist on Monday, November 28 at 7 p.m to compete The Lions (2-5) and Friars (4-2) will face off on FS2, while Monday night’s game against the Red Foxes (1-4) can be seen on ESPN+.

• Columbia lost an 81-79 heartbreaker in Binghamton Wednesday afternoon. The Lions led by six with 19 seconds remaining before a furious Bearcats comeback.
• Freshman Blair Thompson had a career-high 22 points, going 5-of-9 from downtown after seven rebounds.
• Columbia will complete a three-game away swing Monday and then begin a four-game homestand December 3-9 in contests against New Hampshire, Sarah Lawrence, UMBC and Fairleigh Dickinson.

The brothers got back on track on Wednesday, defeating Merrimack 71-57 after back-to-back losses to Miami and Saint Louis in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament. Providence has five players averaging double digits, led by Bryce Hopkins at 15.5 PPG. Hopkins also leads the team in rebounding, dragging down 8.5 per game.
WITHIN THE SERIES – PROVIDENCE
Columbia is 0-3 all-time against Providence and has not faced each other since an 81-55 Friars win in 2006. Every matchup in the series took place in Rhode Island.
COLUMBIA VS THE GREAT EAST
Columbia is 27-47 against teams currently in the BIG EAST. The Lions have not played a BIG EAST opponent since November 20, 2019, an 82-63 loss at St. John’s. The Lions’ last win against a team in conference came when they defeated Villanova 75-57 on the road on November 20, 2012.
STATUS OF THE MARISTS
The Red Foxes have fallen four straight after a season-opener win over American. Marist also plays away on Saturday when they face Bucknell. Patrick Gardner leads the roster with an average of 17.0 points and 7.6 rebounds.

Columbia is 2-7 all time against Marist. Last season, the Red Foxes used a strong first half to take an early lead and held off a series of comeback attempts to earn an 82-67 win at Levien Gym.
COLUMBIA VS THE MAAC
Columbia holds a 25-28 record against teams currently in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Lions’ most common opponent is Manhattan, whom they have faced 24 times (15-9). Colombia’s last win against a MAAC enemy was defeating Marist in December 2019.
