Obituary for Frank P. Nitkowski – Foster’s Daily Democrat

Frank P. Nitkowski, 96, of Greenland, died peacefully on January 15, 2023 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 8, 1926 in Cheektowaga, New York to Stanley and Pearl (Malecki) Nitkowski, Sr.

Frank attended St. John Kanty School and later Hesser College in New Hampshire.

He proudly served over 24 years in the United States Air Force, retired as a Technical Sergeant, and is a World War II and Korean War veteran. After retiring from military service, Frank spent 24 years as a computer operator for the Bank of New Hampshire and was awarded the first annual Employee of the Year Award. Frank had many hobbies and passions, including listening to polka music on UNH radio every Saturday. Watch 60 minutes every Sunday. Loved singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Over the Rainbow and The Donuts in the Army. In addition, he supported Friends in Action and often took Scott to his Friends in Action events, which included bowling and basketball. He also had a fondness for root beer, ice cream and coffee, and whenever his family hears “see you later alligator, after a while crocodile,” Frank will always remember it fondly. Grandpa is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Frank is married to his 55-year-old wife, Barbara (Thompson) Nitkowski, son Fr. Frank P. Nitkowski, siblings Stanley Nitkowski, Jr., Leonard Nitkowski, Mary Ruda, Theresa Rzeszutek, Pearl Przybylski, Anthony Nitkowski, Josephine Sawicki, Helen Graczyk; Survivors include daughters Sonia (Bill) Nichols of Rochester and Peggy Bublitz of Utah; Grandson Christopher Nichols of Rochester, Brett (Crystal Pomlear) Nichols of New Jersey, Raymond (Cecile) Nichols of Rochester, Stephen (Elisa, “Lisa”) Nichols of Greenland, Crystal Nichols of Malden, MA, Scott Nichols of Greenland, Brian Bublitz from Georgia, Jeffery Bublitz from Japan, Mike Bublitz from South Dakota; great-grandchildren Hailie, Ashleigh, Lily, Emily, Macy, Stephen, Jr., Lavender Nichols and Brandon, Shariah Bublitz; Siblings Elizabeth (Betty) Kania, Dorothy Resutek, Anna Krolikowski.

There will be a visiting hour on Sunday, January 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Corpus Christi Parish, 98 Summer Street, Portsmouth, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for a donation to a charity of their choice. The arrangements are under the direction and care of the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home – Buckminster Chapel.
