TAMPA (November 21, 2022) – The University of South Florida women’s basketball team returns to the Yuengling Center Tuesday night to host New Hampshire. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ESPN+). Meeting the Wildcats is the only home game in a seven-game streak that began Sunday at TCU. The Bulls won’t return home until December 14 when they face Marshall.
South Florida enters the competition for the first time since the 2017-18 season with a 5-0 record and hopes for its first 6-0 start since the 2016-17 season. In both seasons, the Bulls went 24-9 and 26-8, respectively.
Florida State transfer and former McDonald’s High School All-American Sammie Puisis Three players have a double-digit lead in the scoring column with an average of 17.6 points per game Dulcy Fankam Menjiadeu and Elena Tsineke score 16.2 and 15.8 points per game respectively. Karl Brito is averaging 9.4 points per contest just outside the double digits to launch her college career.
Fankam Mendjiadeu leads the Bulls with 8.8 boards per game, and Brito is right behind averaging 7.8 rebounds per game.
New Hampshire goes into Tuesday’s game with a 2-3 record against the Bulls after losing 63-51 to Northeastern on Saturday. The Wildcats’ only wins that year came against Colby-Sawyer College in the season opener on November 7, 83-24, and in a Granite State showdown with Dartmouth on November 13, 59-56.
Avery O’Connor leads New Hampshire with an average of 13.4 points per game, while Brooke Kane is second on the team with 11.0 points per contest, along with her team-best 6.8 rebounds per game.
Tuesday’s game marks the fourth meeting between the two schools, with South Florida leading 3-0.
After the Wildcats, the Bulls headed for their next five games, three at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Ft. Myers, 25-27 19 November, December 2 at No. 19 Texas, and December 11 at No. 13 NC State.
South Florida will clash with Georgia Tech in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase on November 25 and either Michigan or the Air Force on day two. The Bulls face one of the four remaining teams consisting of No. 21 Baylor, Belmont, Buffalo or No. 23 Villanova on Nov. 27.

South Florida recorded its 10thth 20-win season during the 2021-22 season while playing in his sixth American Athletic Conference championship game in his nine years in the conference. Reached the cops her highest national finish of the season when she checked in 13th in the Associated Press Top 25 poll on November 30, and advanced to her seventh NCAA tournament appearance in the past nine years.
USF has made 17 postseason tournament appearances and has had eight NCAA tournament berths as a head coach Jose Fernandez22 seasons. Fernandez, the most successful coach of all time in program history, has led USF to 10 seasons with 20 wins, two WNIT Final Four appearances and the 2009 WNIT Championship, and won over 400 career games. Fernandez was named a finalist for the WBCA and a semi-finalist for the Naismith National Coach of the Year Awards. He was also named the 2021 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year at the end of the 2020-21 season.
In 2021-22, the Bulls had three players recognized for impressive playing times by The American, including Elena Tsineke (All-Conference First Team), Bethy Mununga (All-Conference Second Team) and Dulcy Fankam Menjiadeu (All-Conference Second Team).
In addition, Tsineke and Mununga were named to the American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.
