Vermont’s Hally Laney and Binghamton’s Liam Murphy became America East Swimmers of the Week

BOSTON- Hally Laney was named America East Female Swimmer of the Week for the first time after a stellar performance at the Harold Anderson Invitational, the league announced Tuesday morning. This is the third America East Weekly honor the Catamounts have received this season, with Jackie House taking Swimmer of the Week (October 18) and Annika Overvig taking Diver of the Week (November 8).

Laney put on a dominant performance at the Harold Anderson Invitational, taking home three singles wins and setting two pool records to capture her first America East honors of the season. Laney was also part of three winning relays that took home first place and set pool records at Tootell Aquatic Center.

Laney was victorious in the 200 IM, 100 Fly and 200 Fly Individual events. On the 200 Fly she set a pool record with a time of 2:30.54 and on the 100 Fly she set another pool record, finishing with a 55.74.

In the relays, Laney was part of the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams, all of which were victorious and set records at Tootell Aquatic Center. Her relay team finished the 200 free meters with a time of 1:36.40. In the 200 individual medley they finished the race in a stunning time of 1:44.74, while in the 400 medley the team finished in a time of 3:49.13.

Laney and the Catamounts will return for a doubles meet on Saturday, December 3rd. Vermont will compete with UMass and Binghamton at the Joseph R. Rogers Jr. Pool in Amherst, Massachusetts, with the diving competition scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and the swimming portion at 1 p.m
