A The former CIA spy and Texas congressman has addressed rumors of a possible presidential nomination in 2024, saying he is “open-minded” about how he can serve the United States.

Former Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) addressed the rumors ahead of his appearance in New Hampshire, where he will meet with several Republicans. The state of New Hampshire has historically held the first primary in the White House race, making it a key in the GOP nomination race.

“I’m always open to how I can serve my country,” Hurd told Fox News. “And I’ve been fortunate to serve my country in a variety of ways. And one of the reasons I’m going to be in New Hampshire is to talk about how important the first-in-the-nation primary will be influencing and shaping what we want America to do.”

Hurd is also known beyond the CIA and Congress as the author of the book American Reboot: An Idealist’s Guide to Doing Great Things. The book describes how he believes the GOP needs to change its approach to politics and how the US can reform its political system.

Hurd’s visit to New Hampshire on Saturday will come on the same day that former President Donald Trump visits the state. Trump has already announced his candidacy for the GOP nomination. Polling for Trump in the state was split, with 43% of the state’s primary voters supporting Trump’s presidential nomination and 42% wanting another candidate, according to the latest New Hampshire Journal/Coefficient poll released Friday.

“The fact that people in New Hampshire can see different messages is important,” Hurd said when asked about sharing the spotlight with Trump on Saturday. “That’s the really great thing about the Republican Party. We have a diversity of viewpoints and opinions. … We should hold an ideas competition. This is the only way we can ensure that this experiment called America continues. “
